Starting at the Broad River near Elmwood Cemetery and continuing along the Congaree to I-77, the Rocky Branch basin includes some of Columbia’s oldest neighborhoods.
Sewer system age and capacity issues are a major concern for this area. Several improvements are underway to increase capacity and reduce sanitary sewer overflows in hard-hit areas like Olympia, Five Points, and along the riverfront.
