Portions of Benedict College’s campus, Bendale, Eau Claire and Lorick Park form the Smith Branch basin which includes some of Columbia’s oldest neighborhoods as well as new communities tying into the sewer system.
Since age of pipelines and capacity issues are a major concern for this area several improvements are underway. These improvements will increase capacity and reduce sanitary sewer overflows in the surrounding neighborhoods.
