A Program Of The

City Of Columbia

Project Description:

This project proposes a parallel relief sewer to the existing gravity line along the north bank of the Saluda River. The proposed sewer will extend from Manhole SS-SR14-18768-MH to the Saluda River Pump Station for a total distance of approximately 17,700 linear feet, which includes approximately 7,500 linear feet of 30-inch diameter and approximately 10,200 linear feet of 42-inch diameter gravity sewer. This project was identified as part of the collection system hydraulic modeling study (Hazen and Sawyer, 2014).

The existing sewer is undersized for projected daily flows during wet-weather conditions, resulting in sewer surcharge above acceptable levels. The level of flow in the pipe will exceed the limit established as part of the CAP requirements based on wet-weather conditions.
