Project Description:
The Colonial Life Force Main was identified as high priority in a recent force main prioritization analysis. The City utilized an outside consultant for field testing and localized inspections of the force main. A portion of the force main falls into the limits of the Carolina Crossroads project and as part of that project, the Colonial Life pump station was recently relocated and moved out of the new SCDOT right of way. A short segment of force main (approx. 70 feet) was also replaced adjacent to the pump station.
The force main to be replaced for this project is approximately 2,025 feet of 6-inch DIP. In addition to force main replacement, Consultant will review the proposed force main with the current pumps installed at Colonial Life Pump Station to confirm whether there will be any negative impacts downstream due to new material and reduced friction losses in the proposed force main.
