Project Description:
The Colonial Life Force Main was identified as a high priority in a recent force main prioritization analysis. This project involved evaluating the force main alignment in consultation and coordination with the Carolina Crossroads project and preparing a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER). After the City accepted the PER, the consultant completed the alignment survey and began preparing plans and specifications. Bidding documents are expected to be prepared by March 2027.
The force main to be replaced under this project consists of approximately 2,025 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe. In addition to replacing the force main, the consultant will review the proposed force main in conjunction with the current pumps installed at the Colonial Life Pump Station to confirm whether the new material and reduced friction losses will have any negative downstream impacts.
