Project Description:

Professional services for both the Upper and Lower upgrades.

This project consists of two subprojects: Crane Creek Upper North Branch Extension (CC Upper) and Lower North Branch Capacity Upgrade Phase 1 (CC Lower). The project limits and recommended gravity sewer line sizing were determined by the City, Hazen and Sawyer’s 2014 system hydraulic modeling study, the 2018 Collection System Master Plan, and subsequent updates.

CC Upper was originally designed in 2008 as a combination of 20-inch ductile iron pipe and 21-inch PVC pipe. The 7,400-linear-foot gravity line was reevaluated based on needs and field conditions in 2022, repermitted, and all necessary easements were obtained. Construction of CC Upper began in October 2023 and was completed in June 2025. Record drawings were submitted to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SC DES), and a final permit to operate was obtained in August 2025. The project limits began east of I-77 in Blythewood, at the former Project Oro site, and ended at 01714MH.

CC Lower consisted of upsizing approximately 9,100 linear feet of existing 15-inch gravity sewer to 36-inch gravity sewer. The project limits extended from just south of Lorick Road (at 39300MH) to just south of Koon Store Road (at 38872MH) along the North Branch of Crane Creek. Construction of CC Lower began in November 2023 and was completed in July 2025. Record drawings were submitted to SC DES, and a final permit to operate was obtained in September 2025.
